You have to read this - unbelievable

New LFS in Plainfield, Illinois. Grand opening supposed to be last saturday(Sept 24).... I know there are two sides of the story - here's mine. 2 weeks before opening a brand new store in my area, one that I've been waiting for for 10 years, I walk up to the store and ask to talk to the owner...

    High calcium killing my corals?

I just mixed a batch of Instant Ocean - measured the C the next day and got 550. Mixed a 5 gal bag of Oceanic, measured 760.

    Low pH with Oceanic salt

As in my other thread - I'm very concerned with the extreme calcium levels Oceanic gives. I fear that a lot of saltwater hobbyist that use this salt have failures over time, causing us to purchase more livestock as time goes on. Provides of lot of purple color at first, but in the long run...

Stressing out... (beware, this is a rant)

I have a solution. I haven't read all the posts so this might be redundant. Give her $10,000 and tell her she can do whatever she wants with it. Then take $10,000 for yourself. Buy $5,000 worth of aquarium stuff and a plasma TV (TV is for the family ). Stick rest in bank and tell her your...

    High calcium killing my corals?

I didn't think that high calcium levels would kill soft corals either - until I went to the Shedd Aquarium one day and had a chat with a keeper. She told me that very high calclium levels over long periods of time will do damage or even kill soft corals. She used the example of "thats how we...

Opinions on Sea Clone 100 for 55 gallon?

I've had a Seaclone 100 and a I now have a 150. My Seaclone 100 leaked but I put silicone in the attachment knob and stopped that. I was given a 150 and it never leaked. It works great. However, 1 word of caution, do not let the air hose drop down, you'll have a nice puddle of water on the floor...

Reading of over 700, sorry for not posting that. I say over 700 because the water just started to turn after 35 drops, and I stopped. It was Oeanic again. I'll do a yet another test tonight on Instant Ocean and reverify my readings..
