i would definately research and consider before i put a bluehead wrasse (or any fish, for that matter) in my reef. careful research can help you avoid costly mistakes down the line! just my $0.02... :)

$600 sounds a little bit pricey for a used 55 gal, even with all of that stuff included. i payed $200 for my first setup which was almost exactly what you described.

can you post a pic of them secreting the slime? i know some tube dwelling snails will secrete a "slime" to use as a sort of fishing line to catch food.

with the right conditions (i.e. proper lighting, good water quality, etc..) you shouldnt have any trouble getting the zoo's to multiply. just give it some time. what kind of lighting do you have? what are your water parameters?

no clues at all at what caused it to melt? thats weird... this has been one of the hardiest corals i have had to date. that particular specimen is about 6-7" tall. it was only about 1/3 that size when i got it. not as fast of a grower as some other leathers such as my kenya tree, but it has...

... and my sinularia dura... only had this one for about 2 weeks.... looks great so far! much better than in the LFS's tank!

my green sinularia sp. ... had it for about 8 mos now. doing great!

i doubt anyone would take a loss like that... if this post was serious, the owner would have probably spent about 2000 bucks on the new tank alone, therefore, that tank is easily worth 1000 bucks USED in "perfect" condition... i smell a fish... :rolleyes:
