    Artificial. However, I don't see why you can't grow macro algae in your tank. Some of them look quite nice. If you have an open top mangroves may work for you. Shaving bushes look nice.

    Like Flower said, take your time, spread your purchases out and look locally for deals. Sad to say its a hard economy and plenty of people are getting out of the hobby.
