    my 50 gallon

The nitrate reducer will not help imo. I would add a refugium to your tank. If it is not drilled, a hob unit would work just fine. That will give you a nice area to grow macro algae that will consume the nitrates. And yes, either use distilled water or ro/di for your water changes. How often do...

    Luvmyreef's 20g Nano Build

Oh, ok. I thought you had both of them up. I am thinking of the stocking list, and I will definitely go with a blenny. I want something to eat algae in there. And I will also add a cleaner shrimp. I really like how the two in the 180g go all over the rocks looking for food. I will not put nass...

    Luvmyreef's 20g Nano Build

Well, I am glad you give me advice on this, especially since you have a 20g. This is my first drilled tank with sump! That is why I asked so many questions. Anyway, good luck with your writing. Usually once it starts to flow, you can finish in no time.

Yep, first one lol. Thanks. You have been a big help. I have the locline on the return end so I can put it where I want. I understand what you are saying about the back siphon. So, I will be drilling holes then.

We have 2 - 250 watt metal halides on our 50 gallon tank - Want to see what corals would be best to get

Yep. Usually the softies like leathers are pretty hardy. Also, zoas come in all kinds of colors and are good beginner corals. so are mushrooms for that matter lol. The montis like a stable dkh. and good calcium. Once they start to grow, they are usually a main centerpiece in your tank. I have...

It really all depends on what you like. You could do some colorful montipora capricornis. Some soft corals like leathers ex: toadstool. Your lights should be able to sustain whatever you want in that tank. If nitrates are low, even sps later on once you get some experience with corals.

They are beautiful fish!! My suggestion would be to introduce him with the lights out, and you might also have to move some rock around to help with territorial issues with the yellow tangs...

Well, I just finished scrubbing all the rock. I noticed some lobo on a piece, but it came right off with the peroxide spray. I didn't realize how much rock I had in that tote!! It would fill a 40g tank easy I think lol. I just hope the dino is dead on it. It has been in the dark for months, so I...

Yeah, the chaeto that I had before grew like a weed. This new stuff I bought seems weak, turned white quick. But, I think it is getting used to the light. ;)

    Luvmyreef's 20g Nano Build

Ya know, I am starting to think about what fish to put in here with my pair of b/w clowns. I am thinking a couple small ones. Maybe a blenny, like the bicolor or another tail spot. And maybe later on a red mandarin, or scooter blenny. I will seed the tank with tisbe pods first. I am not sure...

I have never used one of those. Do they really work??? Glad someones chaeto is growing lol. I lost over half of the chaeto I bought. The die off has slowed, I think my light was burning it up....

Thanks Sip. I am slowly building the light cycle back up. Did a 20% water change yesterday. Plan on one tomorrow too. Sand still looks good. Just gotta get this chaeto to grow, and I need to get my nitrates back down. They went back up to 20 ;(

    Luvmyreef's 180g Diary

Well, I did 48hrs lights out, and the sand is looking a lot better. The places that were being spot treated on the rocks are clear for now. I also put a couple snails in the refugium, and they are eating all the algae and cyano off the walls. No more Dino's as far as I can tell! and what Is left...
