Oh, I tell ya. I put the 60 watt cree lights from my nano over this tank and I am hooked. I have already contacted the guy from apollo ref leds. The colors are amazing under leds. Every coral in my tank, including my sps glow!!! It is absolutely crazy!
Well, this morning, I had to experiment and see for myself if leds would make that big of a difference on my 180g. I took the 60w cree fixture off my nano and held it above my 180, in each section. The colors pop and fluorescence from the blues, and IT IS INSANE!!! Every single coral fluoresces...

Yep, I am thinking that I should. BTW, I think I am starting to get OCD with this tank, trying to keep it algae free..... Put in new sand, just to siphon it out later lol. ugh!!!

Well, I didn't do the water change today, but I got 25g ready, and atleast 18 more currently mixing. I will do it tomorrow. I needed a day off lol. I noticed some of the algae creeping back to the sand bed around the bottom of the rocks in certain places. Basically it is doing this on the left...

You would have to keep them clean no doubt, but would they really cut down on penetration...
I believe it would. But not if you used the glass covers on your tank. They leave a small section open, so it is not totally closed. Surely that would help......

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with it seth. I always used the reef crystals until I tried the aquavitro crap. Now, I am using plain IO cause I dont want the extra trace elements right now. Both are good IMO.. I dont check mag, but calc is 420, kh is 11. Thats good for me.
I have bleached rock before, scrubbed it with a wire brush and just used lots of dechlorinator after. Then put it in saltwater and reseeded with a bacterial additive for awhile.
Well....I found another koralia #4 in my stash!! Or it's a #3.... Don't know how I missed it. I put it on the left in the front for flow straight across the sand in the front. So, that should cover any flow issues. ;)
My levels? Well, temp-76-78, ph 8.3 day, 7.8 pm, amm-0, nitrite-0, nitrates 15-20, phos was 0 at last check. sg 1.026. Haven't checked calcium in awhile. My skimmer is the coralife hob rated for 220. I know, I know, but it does the job....
