    Uncooridanted Perc?

Boyancy problem. I would move this to the disease forum. My guess is it swallowed too much air or has swim bladder problem.

    compatible???

50/50. That's kinda crappy actually. I'm sure you payed extra for a mated pair and now they are going to give you an unmated pair?! The clown will either fight with the other and decide he likes it or kill it. Good luck.

    maroons acting strange

I wouldn't worry about this unless you see them being stressed (rapid breathing, pale color, etc.). The maroon I had like the top of the tank too, a little too much (sniff, sniff). He used to sleep in the upper corner. I put a powerhead in that corner and found him the next day sucked onto the...

What kind of Wet/Dry filter do I need

Spud, What are your plans for the tank? Fish only or reef? I tend to tell people to stay away from commercial wet/dry filters as they tend to be overpriced. Most people end up taking the media out and just use them as circulation, something that could be done with a spare tank or rubbermaid...

    Snails and MH Lighting

What size tank? Algea grows more from excess nutrients than from light. A tank with low phosphates and nitrates will not produce as much algea as one that is overstocked and overfed. Also a tank with more liverock (more surface area) will require more snails than a bare tank.

    What size powerhead?

170 GPH? Are they adjustable flow rate? I would go with two in the corners, versus one with a higher flow rate.

oxygen in water, rollers on filter

It won't hurt anything. The cover is there to reduce evaporation, keep dust out, and hide the ugly inside of the filter. As far as oxygen exchange. Even stagnant water surface exchanges oxygen (although not very well). The rippling of the surface and the filter should give you good oxygen exchange.

    Lighting suggestions..

Well, I think what you would like is a self contained power compact light. Something with say a 10k and an actinic. Perhaps something like this. http://www.sevenseasonline.com/jbjdeluxe.htm You would be able to keep a few low light corals such as mushrooms, star polyps, etc..

    how to stop the bubbles

Shoving media into the return, as you found out, creates too much back pressure resulting in the water seeking a path of least resistance (over the media and onto the floor)! The skimmer may just need to break in, let it run for a few days and see if the bubbles in the return subside. It may...

    refuge overflow...

Some aquarium stores online have bulkhead fittings. I don't know of anything specific of the top of my head. Check out US Plastics for lots of DIY stuff including bulkheads. http://www.usplastic.com/

    refuge overflow...

Do a search on "gravity fuge" in here. This should give you some good pics and ideas. I found this one by Glazer. Simple and effective. Placed above the sump, you have a small powerhead pumping water into it with a larger bulkhead overflow returning.

    powerhead question

Tucker has a good point. Rippling effect... not bubbles. Bubbles are bad in reef tanks, big or small.

    Max Size fish, pics please

I would contribute that to the same reasons freshwater fish stay small. When fish are in a closed container they release certain chemicals into the water. These chemicals build up over time and keep the fish from growing, almost like a safety mechanism. My local zoo has a large tank with some...

    Can I pull this off?

Raise the pump. I would have the sump about half full. Keep in mind the sump has to have enough empty space to hold whatever the overflow will give it upon power outage.
