    Changing out VHO lights?

Wax32 never heard that before. What is the basis for that? I have 660 watts of VHO. Changed as many as 4 at a time. No die off, no noticeable affect on anything in my tank. The tank has been up for over 3 years now.

    Changing out VHO lights?

I change mine out every 12 months. From everything I have read the spectrum on the bulbs shifts around this time. This shift is "supposedly" not appreciable to the eye.

    Coral Beauty Questions

Kojack Not sure how you purchased your 2 CBs or when they were introduced but give them another shot. Dwarf angels are awesome additions to a tank as they have lots of personality and are typically outgoing fish. In my opinion, an established tank, 8 months or older, goes a long way in...

    Coral Beauty Questions

FYI only. Not second guessing you, paulcoates, but this site states, "The Copperband has an elongated mouth which it uses to pick at coral heads, including nuisance aiptasia." however under reef safe it says to monitor.

    Coral Beauty Questions

I would do some research on the copperband butterfly. I don't think they are reef safe.

    Coral Beauty Questions

I agree about purchasing livestock online. I don't trust someone else picking out my livestock for me and I feel much better when given the opportunity to observe/visualize the fish or coral. Unless you are completely new to this hobby I doubt you wouldn't notice the CB if dead upon arrival...

    SPS experts

by no means an SPS expert. However I have had good success, under VHO, with montipora capricornis (sp?). Both the red and green variety. However, the red grew much faster than the green.

    Coral Beauty Questions

Coral Beauties are one of the hardier dwarf angels but in my opinion all dwarfs do much better in an established tank. In my experience, in less established tanks they tend to get stressed out, ie ick, etc, and die. I have never bought online so you could have gotten a sick fish. However, a...

    Do Snails Reproduce?

The turbo snails in my tank are like rabbits. Very few make it to adulthood though.

Ocellaris clowns in a reef tank?

If you get an ocellaris and are worried about it hosting your elegance, buy a toadstool leather. My clown loves it and the toadstool seems pretty happy too. The clown is a great addition to any tank.

    Angels in a 55g Reef

established = 6 mos or older. As for flame and potter angels, I would wait for over a year.

    Angels in a 55g Reef

Relatively speaking, in my experience the Coral Beauty is the hardiest of dwarf angels. 9 weeks is pretty young. I would hold off on any dwarf angels as they do much better in established tanks. I have never kept a pygmy angel so I have no experience with them.

    Angels in a 55g Reef

Coral Beauty, Flame, Potter. All are "reef safe with caution."

How do you feed blood shrimp?

They are a must for people who have clownfish that think a human hand in the tank should be bitten multiple times. Hilarious! My clown is a freaking terror. I have to account for him everytime I put my hand in the tank. Especially near his toadstool.

    Flame Angel & Lemonpeel

all dwarf angels are hit or miss. I have individually kept flames, coral beauties and potters without incident. This does not mean you will. If you keep them well fed and with plenty of nori you MIGHT diminish any appetite they have to nip at corals. As for two angels in a 75, I have never...

    Algea in Reef Ready Overflow

As for dosing phytoplankton, personally, the recommended dose is too much for my system. Moreover, I have not noticed an apprecriable difference in my tank when dosing the recommended dose vs. less than the recommended dose. I dose my 90 gallon tank once a week, 20ml. My tank is fully stock...
