does any one know how to care for a hyacinth birdnests

My Birdsnest colonies can't get enough light. I have four 250W MH on Lumenarc Mini's over a 6', 135g tank. I also have two Magnum 8's and a Koralia 4 blowing the water around pretty good. Interestingly enough, the bright pink one was grown from three 1" frags that I salvaged from a large...

    135g Reef Tank

Thanks, all. What makes this tank even more enjoyable is that it's pretty automated, so maintenance is minimal. NO biopellets, carbon dosing, amino acids, GFO, calcium reactor, $500 controllable pumps, closed loops (the tank's not even drilled), UV, denitrifier, ozone, algae scrubber, DSB...

I haven't been on this forum in quite some time. I thought I'd share some pics of my 135g (previous tank was a 75g):

The question should really be "What is the best bulb/ballast combo for coral growth?".

    75g @ about the 2-year mark

Yep, Outer Orbit 2x250W MHs (Phoenix 14Ks) w/T5s.   .....and if anyone else is concerned about the Angel and Purple Tang, rest assured, they'll be cruising in style in their new home soon enough.

    Mixed Reviews on Asterina Stars.

A respectable site says they're all bad.... "Several people have argued that these starfish are harmless, but we have yet to find any that will not eat coral polyps. It is our recommendation that if you discover this type of starfish in your reef aquarium that you remove it as soon as possible...

    over skimming?

Also, I know it's a popular belief that "bigger is better" when it comes to skimmers, but you really don't want a skimmer that's completely overrated for your system. An important factor in skimming is to produce a steady, consistent level of foam. If your system doesn't have a sufficient...

    Queen angel in 260 reef?

My Blue Angelfish (very closely related to the Queen) has never touched any corals or clams. My Purple Tang, on the other hand, has eaten about 6 heads of frogspawn, 1 head of hammer, a whole open-brain, and took a nice-sized nibble out my large Derasa clam's mantle. No safe bets in this...
