guide to Building a 125 gallon stand

The stand will be made out of shop grade 3/4 inch birch and 10 inch wide 3/4 inch Idaho pine. I use a nail gun, lots of screws and lots of wood glue. I use a Table saw, cordless drill, router with round over bit, and a sliding compound miter saw. If you have a router, circular saw, a drill...

    My new 55 gal

Is that an in tank skimmer in the corner. A friend of mine had one of those and it worked awesome and was pretty much silent. Your tank looks really good. I would suggest getting a blue background for your tank. The blue really looks nice. I used left over blue wrapping paper.

    Switching a tank over.

If it is Southdown then you can just put it in with a pvc pipe. it will cloud your tank for a few days but won't harm anything.

    What can I get?

stoney corals and clams probably would be a no no. leathers, mushrooms, star corals, bubbles and brains are a few that you could easily keep.

    Is bigger really better??

Saltwater fish are so beutiful that people want more than one and in smaller tanks it is very easy to overstock. It's like people putting tangs in small aquariums. Een though the tank is way to small we still do it becaus we want a nice pretty Tang regardless if it is good for the fish or not...

    Acrylic vs Glass

Totally depends on size. Smaller tanks should be glass unless you really like the rounded corner look. Larger tanks should be acrylic just because of weight. I have neer sen a green hue in a glass tank but I am sure that if you go with really thick glass then you might notice it, but it would...

    crazy pool filtration

My parents have a chlorine free filter system ( something with positive and negative ) and it is great. the dogs even drank from it for years now. One year my dad bought some big goldfish and put them in the pool at the end of summer for a few weeks. It was cool to chase them around.

    Switching a tank over.

What are your plans for the sand. Is the sand from a friends tank or is it dry sand or is it shipped to you. Moving over rock and water is really no big deal what so ever. Step 1. Mix up about 10 gallons of top off water in a tub the day before you make the switch. step 2. Go to a hardware...

    Lighting or Filtration

How deep do you want your sand bed. I have about half an inch and really like that it takes up hardly any space like a DSB does and still looks great. I have read that people will slowly add a little bit of sand at a time ( every couple days or so ) to thicken up the sand bed into a DSB.

need light for -55g-soon to be reef

I setup a Paypal account the other day for e-bay purposes and love it. There are fees for the seller but only like 2% if you want to accept credit cards and less if the buyer pays with a checking account. It does take a couple days for the money to go from paypal to your checking account but...

Not if the only thing you are doing is moving the system to another tank. Add the new substrate very slowly over time and keep your Sand bed 1 inch max.

I always keep mine in the fridge. I use pure minced Garlic from the grocery store because a jar is like a buck and last a long time.
