    40g Soon-to-be Mantis Tank

Yup, the size of the pump is a little excessive but I'd rather be able to close the check valve a little instead of having to go out and buy a larger pump. I really do have a liking of the Peacock. If you do a little digging, alot of people actually own Odontodactylus scyllarus'. They are the...

    40g Soon-to-be Mantis Tank

Thank you for the comments Ya the tank canopy and stand is DIY. Unfortunetly I didnt build it. Wish I did though. The person who had it before me kinda did a piss poor job making it. I still have to work on the canopy.

    Mantis!

Thank you very much for the nice comments. Its an honor from a well known Mantis keeper. I did try and dedicate alot of time and money into this setup. I want my mantis to thrive. I also am putting coral in, as you know, so I want them to do well too. I'll be adding more rock too. Probably base...

    Red tree sponge

I think I know the sponge you are talking about. What I read was that they need very high flow and a low amount of light. I dont think they are for reefs purely because they have opposite needs of LPS and softies. More for a sump/refugium. Again, I'm not 100% positive.

    Got Salt 125g newbie

Your tank looks really nice! I would be really careful with that tang. Doesnt look like a cheap one either. Your tank, being as new as it is, doesn't have the algae needed for the tang to live off of. I would keep a constant algae sheet in the aquarium for him.

    Mantis!

Well I put a 1.5'' pvc tunnel inside so hopefully that should be good. I also plan on adding alot more rock than what I have currently. I know once the mantis hits the water he will take all the rubble rock that is on the pvc tunnel and move it around. Also, here are some pics of the setup.

    Mantis!

So I figured I would give a small update on my soon to be Mantis/Reef 40g tank. Ive got about 30-40lbs of nice sand and another 40lbs of premium live rock. Covered in coraline with a huge encrusting Montipora on it. Hopefully I can get it to grow. Doubtful being that I only have 24" 2x65 with 1...

    Sump

Im going to be coming into some Chaeto tomorrow when I go and get my live rock. My tank is about a week into its cycle. Can I add the Chaeto to the refugium now? Will it prolong the cycle or cause it to stop? Any advice asap would be fantastic.

    Clownfish Pictures Wanted

Ive read around and have heard of a couple cases were people put pictures of clownfish living inside different corals and eventually the clownfish live inside a coral. Somehow they build a relationship with the picture. Ive always found it fasinating when a coral hosts a clownfish and have...

    Metal Halide Light

I just came across a few 250w Metal Halide lights that my dad used in the the garage. They are the ones that you use when working in the garage or a work site. Industrial ones. Together they are 500w because two come in a set I guess. Ive got a little 10g holding tank for fish, inverts, and...

    Aquarium Predicament

Well, two tanks in a smaller room would deffinetly be stuffy and my room is the hottest of all rooms so it would be kinda humid and hot in here. Also, we needed something to tie the downstairs together and the tank did it pretty well. I guess Ill just keep working on the water and trying to...
