    Calcium and alkalinity readings?

Maybe it is just me but I dont see a problem with the alk and ca levels you displayed...alk could be just a tad higher upwards more to 4 meq/l, but right where it is now, I dont think I would mess with it....what is the ph?

    Translation on specs...

1.024 is fine...Nitrites and Ammonia have to be 0. Depending on what type of tank you are aiming on establishing...you will need a better alk test...you will need numbers for a reef setup...

Could be air in your lines from the construction you mentioned...could even be something they are doing which affected the pressure. You have a tough one there.

    Weight and Floor Issues

Even with a give rating of 500"psf...you could possible encounter sag if the span is too wide... If the joists are 2x12's...16 inches or so on center...you will be fine. Even with true 2x10's (true being non dimensioned), I still put a brace in the basement below. I do not know what the tank...

    Siphon overflow design (pix)

Having the drain pipe lower then the water level will help with the siphon... Even a square tube will allow bubbles to pass through and not build up (despite what was inaccurately stated above) if the water pressure is high enough...which would be about the flow rate as the rated overflow... And...

    Invertebrate Only With LR Tank

Yes it is feasible...lighting would depend on what type of inverts you intend on keeping...if you are talking crabs and such...normal flourescents would be fine. I am also interested in someday setting up an invert tank...I get a lot of enjoyment out of watching my crabs and stuff...
