    crab

    Has anyone seen or had the porcelain crabs from the carribean. I was told by the lfs they are beautiful, they are a blue/purple color with the maroon spots on them. I have always seen the white with maroon markings.

    which invert

    I cannot get sexy shrimp at this time but what about the skunk cleaner shrimp??

    which invert

    I am wanting to add a nice invert to my 2.8 gal pico. It "must" be coral safe for sure as I have ricordeas and zoos in my tank. No fish are in this tank its just my coral tank but needs a critter besides the normal hermit crabs. So here are my choices that I can pick from, please help me choose...

    zoas on plugs

    Thanks for the reply. I will leave them there then. The other ones I am talking about are not Fire & Ice they are regualr Horizons. Michael identified them for me so they are nothing special.

    fish only question

    I have decided to keep the 30 gal as my freshwater tank. I don't plan to change it to salt. The only salt tank I have is the one above, my little pico. I just love it. I have just upgraded it to a 2.8 gal just for a touch more room as I love the green star polyps and have to keep cutting them...

    zoas on plugs

    Is it okay to leave zoas on plugs?? I have a pico tank and two plugs of zoas that are just about covered. I know this is a way to control them but will they still do well if left on them?? Also is "Fire & Ice" the ones with the red/orange skirts and whitish splash on the centers??

    ricordia fraging.

    Yes I think so far so good unless it gets moved I will just leave well enough alone and hope it attaches. So frusterating. I love my orange but you are right, very hard to photograph that is for sure. I love that green though, very nice. Maybe oneday I will add one of those to my tank as well...

    FlricordiaZFA growout updates here.

    Oh how I only wished that I lived near you for some of those wonderful frags. But I just have to settle with what I can get here in Canada. Nice pics........ Sorry to hear about the thumb, good to know how toxic they really can be.

    ricordia fraging.

    I have the exact same Yuma purple one as you have shown there too. It came to me loose when the guy said it would be attached...... He did include a piece of rubble with it, now it is off in the corner of the tank, it is not blowing around and is by this rubble. I don't want to bother it. But...

    FlricordiaZFA growout updates here.

    You know some of us have a green thumb for gardening but Flricordia has the most amazing green thumb for any and all Rics and Zoas, I just love looking at his pics. Would love to know how he keeps them all looking so good.

    driftwood in reefs...

    I would not do it. I have driftwood in my freshwater Discus tank and IMO it is for freshwater more than saltwater. Never heard of it being in saltwater tanks. It will also cause your ph to go down, that is why Discus love it so much as they prefer a lower ph. Mine is still leaching tannins after...

    ricordia fraging.

    Can you send a picture of it?? You don't have to get a big piece of rock with it, just chip under it a bit of rock its attached to. Worse cast, the ric will pop off like mine did and then you will have to set it on a piece of rock and wait for it to attach.

    ricordia fraging.

    Do you know if its a Yuma or Florida one?? Anyways, since they are tempermental when you go to remove it make sure you get a piece of rock it is attached to. If you just peel it off without any rock you will have fun getting it to attach, I am struggling with that right now. They don't like to...

    using dead corals

    Thanks for the replies. Never thought of it that way, and I do really hate it when they take stuff from the ocean. I will just look for some small rubble pieces or small branch type live rock. Its for my pico tank and most of the live rock is to big for it. Lot of rubble though in the stores in...

    using dead corals

    I have a question. My lfs has some dead corals that have been cleaned very well as they are bright white. Can one use these in a tank for mushrooms & zoas to grow onto??

    Having trouble with your zoas?

    Mike, Which Kents do you use: Kent Marine Tech-1 Iodine supplement additive Kent Marine super iodine additive Also, would you add this to my little 2.8 gal and if so how much?? I have always been told to never dose anything you cannot do readings for, what is your opinion on this??

    Having trouble with your zoas?

    Mike, would the addition of iodine benefit rics too or just zoas?? Now, my little pico is 2.8 gal as you know. How much and how often would you add iodine to this tank so I don't over do it?? Debbie ....

    shrooms and rics not spreading

    They will when they are ready and then you will have more than you wished for. I started out when I had my 10 gal tank with just single shrooms and in no time I has way to many. I am new to ricordeas though and have once again just singles of them so mine are young and I know in time when ready...

    green star polyp

    Grows fast, I love the look and color of it. If you have it on a rock and that rock does not touch any other rock it will just stay there and you can control it that way. That is what I have done.
