    Starting out

I'll go with Debbie on this one. It's a lot more fun than getting a tank then finding out none of the livestock you like will fit in it.

    skimmer, light ... mistake

If your tank is a standard glass 30g, 36 1/4 x 12 5/8 x 16 3/4, Look at these, 2 of theses would be great 36" HO T5 Or this one 192w PC +moonlights Both of those are less than $100

    low light corals??

Most of them have fans, and legs that keep them about 4" above the tank. I like deeper tanks, you can have more variety. The more light a species needs, the higher up you put it. Start with them a little low and move them higher depending how they're doing.

    Rusty angels

They're very comparable to Coral Beauties in every sense. They are cool, not as many people have them, they look way better after they settle in at home that they do at the store.

    hermit crabs?

Nothing is easier to catch than fish. It's takes 3 guys about 2 hours to get over 100,000 damsels. Hermits tend to stay on the bottom when you pump cyanide over the reef.

o man here we go again GRRR!!!

Those darn parents! You set up a 30 and they want to build an inwall tank. I wouldn't be suprised if they didn't even let you pay for it.

    Lionfish

They arent hard. Dont keep them with anything that will ever fit in thier mouths. They don't seem real fond of fast swimmers zippin by them alot, but they deal with it. They like to have ledges to kind of perch on.

    Chaetomorpha Algae,

If you remove the dead stuff as it dies it will adjust itself to the amount you need. The common guidline for light is 12 hours, and like fedukeford said, the light on the fuge should be the opposite 12 hours.

    hermit crabs?

Sometimes they have water in their shell that could contain a lot of bad things. Supply and demand, 200 hermits would last an average store a month tops, times the number of stores in the world...

    Can fish mourn?

My spiteful dog made a fool out of me. I stepped on my dogs foot once and she walked with a limp for 3 days, and really sucked up the attention. She got major sympathy from everyone. Then I noticed she was switching the limping foot to whatever side of her I was on. AH HA! It takes a lot smarter...

How to get good info @ LFS

Take a book off of their shelves and look up the livestock you're interested in. Ask the LFS guy about the livestock. If it doesnt match the details in the book, ask him about it. He may have a different but valid opinion since the book may be very general. If it's just a little larger minimum...
