    Can fish mourn?

Heres an article about a Panda that accidentally killed one of its babies.Sad Panda This is sort of an interesting spin. The baby is only 2 days old and she is an inexperienced mother so the acting sad do to the change in routine is questionable, especially since that was one of twins so she is...

    Don't buy my favorites

This is my favorite butterfly. I used to rescue them from work until I got a zoo or aquarium to take them. Their diets are way to expensive and they are very picky about it. The Mellon fly, this is the pacific subspecies, only found near Hawaii, only eats coral unique to there. Often passes up...

OK, Lets hear the crazy combinations...

I had a 38 I called the rescue tank. I worked at a large distributor. I took home fish that were too small, too mean, injured, shy, and if no zoos could take them in time, the way too hard for a hobbyist to keep fish. I've had as many as four different butterflies at once, 6 tiny yellow tangs...

    seahorse question?

Personally, with that size tank i'd rather have a few of the little ones instead of a pair of the regular sized ones because they're very interesting in groups.

    got a question.....

Well alot of people are gonna tell you that isn't enough for anemones. All I can say is that "IME" I had that tank (a 29 btw) With a pair of clowns and a Sebae Carpet anemone with 1 40w full spectrum and 1 40w actinic 03. This was the best non metal halide lighting available at the time. The...

    need help... moving soon!!!

Plenty of time. Your water isnt whats cycled, its the bio-balls and live rock. Treat them as if they were livestock, 'cause they are. You dont need all your water. Put the LR and bio-balls in 1 container of tank water, and the fish and verts in a seperate 1. Both containers need airstones. Fill...

    Phytoplankton culture

Reminds me of the old days We'd get together at work and build this kinda stuff at the bosses expense and he's let us make enough for the warehouse and all of us. We'd get help from zoos and aquariums then pass it along to lfs guys. As my exwife would always say "what is the gross stuff in...

    VENTING over ***** !!!!!!!!!!!!!

They will look at the aquatic department bottom line. Buying food or equipment there has practically the same effect as buying fish, it goes in the "+" column for the department.

    Electric flame scallops

What I ment was they slowly lowered the tank temp after they were in there. You should see a 50 breeder 50 scallops swimming in it. Don't worry, they'd all get sold within 2 weeks tops. I dont remembered what we called this, but we put a bunch of lettuce in a tank of water with a good light and...

    Urchin or not to Urchin????

65 gallon Seaclear FBH. Looked brand new. A couple times he even managed to get to the underside of the light fixture and eat the slime off of it. Didn't have any coraline, there was no LR and there was only NO lighting, 2 full spectrums and 2 actinic 03s. (there was a White Sebae Carpet in...

    Electric flame scallops

Wow, a year is really good. The only people I know that had any success acclimated them slowly over a month or so to around 72 degrees to lower their metabolism, marine snow was not commercially available at the time. How much marine snow does yours eat?

    stocking suggestions for my 35

I like clown gobies. I dont see very many people here mention them. They do great in smaller tanks and they're nicely colored. They're cute, ok, there I said it, in a very manly voice though.
