You dont have to cycle a tank

I can't have one where I'm living Thats probably why I hang out here so much. As far as pictures of tanks, I never really took many. Most of the tank pics I have are just birthday party ones with a tank in the background. This is my Red Sea Volitan, he took 2nd or 3rd, whatever red is, in...

    DIY chiller questions..

acrylic51 IMO, heres what your response sounds like "I said it first, I said it first" I refered to it as a "common" method, clearly not claiming it as an original idea. This person isn't reading your several other threads. I dont know if they have a wife or even a yard for that matter. Shovels...

most expensive fish you ever bought

Well almost everything I ever bought was wholesale so I won't mention actual price but... I would say it was the 2" Huma Huma. not that he was expensive, it's just that he killed my Red Sea Volitan that was 15" with a 18" finspan, to me he was indeed a priceless showfish. You see my avatar up...

    DIY chiller questions..

I just love threads where you guys will think I'm nuts. First the simple common not so whacky idea. Have you considered going geothermal? With a system that large you might as well go for something that has no upkeep and no power costs. Dig a ditch in the yard below the frost line and run a...

    Has anyone seen this??

Another part is that although the edges are teeming with animal life, most of the ocean is a big empty void.

Need ID Please, Live Rock Balloons

I think its sponge. I had those ( exact same color too) and none of my fish that like macroalgae ever touched it. That of course proves nothing.

What LR rock do you have?

I'm just saying this to make you guys jealous. but... a store we did business with in Hilo Hawaii closed when the owner died. He opened right after WWII and dived for his rock for his 600 gallon DT. His son shipped it all to us to settle his bill and my boss just let us take whatever we wanted...

    Starry Eyed Hermit Crab?

Depends how old your tank is. Is there any thing to eat in there? Any time I have to feed something that I got to clean, I bury it and make them dig for it so they don't forget what I hired them for.

    purple pincushion urchin confusion

"urchinism" Fishgeek01 you totally made that word up. Did you mean urchinariology ? But on the serious side. They need a lot of algae. We always but buised spinach in their tank. Just pound on a spinach leaf on the counter and set something on it in the bottom.

Maroon clown bigger than an oscar!!!

My female Tomato Clown was 7" not counting tail when she died. She was 15 years old. It wasn't from natural causes either, my new apartment wasnt really done like they told me and I had to leave her there in a cooler and they spilled paint in it. She had laid eggs (again) a couple weeks earlier.

    Last Chromis Standing *Cry*

Ah man, a school of those in that size tank is so cool. They do ok in a newer tank, in the old days people cycled with them. I dont say this about most fish but try to get some soon after they arrive at the lfs. If the new ones go in soon enough the other one will just join the school.

You dont have to cycle a tank

If you had an AquaClear on the 55, you could just take a foam block out of that and stick it in the filter on the 20 and you're done. The only real consideration other than that is what percentage of the filtration on the 55 is the AquaClear responsible for. If like in the 20 the OTB is the...

Confront him with the net like a Matatdor. He may decide to swim right in. I use to love to do that at the stores. Guys would be chasing fish all over then i'd stick it in there like that. lotsa fun to say get in the net just before they do.
