    first casualty, please help!

Well, my clownfish died today and I need help understanding why. He didn't look sick. The only thing I had noticed was that he was breathing a little heavy and he hadn't really eaten (in my sight) in the last few days. He was still active and swimming around the tank. He was purchased on...

    Fish Compatibility

I'm thinking that I want a blenny for my next fish (only a clown so far, along with the janitorial crew) but I need my nitrate lvl to come back down first right? Readings last night before a water change were: PH - 8.2 Ammonia - 0 Nitrites - 0 Nitrates - 20 ppm SG - 1.022 I added 12lbs of cured...

    Fish Compatibility

Can you mix gobies and blennies? And if so, can a lawnmower blenny and a banded watchman goby be friends in a 40g tank?

    Water Change Question

I have a 5g container that has had some "reserve" saltwater for a change. It's been about a week and a half, maybe two. Is it ok to use this water still to do a change out? Does it become stagnant or anything like that?

    Base rock?

Can this be used as base rock? It will go in a 40g with 20 lbs of LR. Also, I assume it has to be grouped with the LR right (physically touching it?) Pic attached is the rock in question... front side and from the top

    New kid on the block

Well, the asterina seastar did die yesterday. Is that common for a new tank, or should I take that as a warning sign? With all of the reading I have been doing on this site, I realize that my tank never really cycled before adding the crew I currently have in there, which has me a little...

    New kid on the block

LR - Yes I do intend to add more.. it's just expensive heh so I had to space it out a little. If I do set up the 10g tank then will I want to let the new LR sit in there for awhile before adding it to the main tank or does it matter? Water levels - I think they are actually better than I'm...
