    Best Salt Mix

Doesn't good salt just equal consistency? I have use used several TM, TMpro, oceanic,IO,RedSea pro. The most consistant that I have come across is TM. The TM pro has or had ALK dip problems. Don't know if that has been fixed but.

Is there a benefit to black or white sand?

Some say that white is better for a reef b/c it reflects the light back up toward the corals. Black obviously will absorb light so the tank will seem darker.

    Carbon...Good or bad?

Nothing wrong with running carbon. Just don't leave it in there forever. Run for a couple days 2-3. And remove it. Google search bulk carbon. You find it. Buying in size makes it much cheaper and I think you get a better product. Shoot me PM if you have questions....... HTH Tim

So Have you heard of this?

Most mix LR and MMLR (man made) but it will become seeded by the bacteria in the tank. It will take longer b/c its void of any life but to be able to make 100+ lbs for maybe 25 bucks is worth the time! My goal is to make LR colums b/c I have a very deep tank that I'm setting up. So we'll see...
