    homemade filter

I conected the pump to the filter using tubbing so I can remove the bottom with out taking anything else apart. I have 40lbs LR and 80lbs LS and it has handled the bio filtration. I found no metal parts only PVC. The mag 7 puts out 700gph at 0' and 500 at 3'. The flow remains pretty constant...

    Pump is too strong

Do not use a dimmer switch with the pump. I'm sure that if you contact the pump manufacturer they would eliminate this option.

    THE CYCLE

I was reading the talk on how to cycle a tank (with livestock or with out). On my 30g tank I used molly's and it took 9 weeks. On my 125g tank I used 80lbs live sand and 20lbs live rock and after a week checked for ammo, and nitrites and they were both 0. so I added 4 damsels and waited for the...

    homemade filter

I made a filter using a mag-7 pump and a whole house filter from the hardware store. I mounted all of the parts on a wood base. The filter has a built in bypass so I can use the system to just circulate if I want. I have been using it for 3 weeks now and everything in my 125g tank is doing fine...

It was Fiji @ 11.00 lb. Yes he bites it and chews it up. Looks like he is eating popcorn. My Lunar wrasse that jumped out last night seems to be ok. Glad i was still awake when he jumped out. Mike

    Live Rock (thanks MR. Salty)

Steve I found a lfs about 30 miles away that had some live rock so i picked up 10lbs and put it in the tank. The trigger loves it and keeps biting it. He liked it so much he let the clown have the rock he used to like (which was the clowns to start with). Thanks for the info. Mike

    Help . . . Algae!!!

I'm new to this too, and had the same questions you did but I got one just cause everything I read said you had to have one. Now that I have used it for a few months I agree that you must have one. You have to see it to believe it. I bought a SeaClone which is good up to 100 gal and can be used...

    Logging Software

I use Aquarium Manager. You can get it at ZDNET downloads. Its not bad but I found that I like to fill out a log book that I keep by the tank and then transfer it to the PC when I feel like it. Mike
