300 gal with 75 gal sump. Sump has live sand I purchased and bio balls from my 125 gal salt tank. Do I need to "feed" the sand with something? I'm hearing the tank will not become established unless I feed it

how fast should the water move through the sump?

Gravel vac every 4-6 weeks. Attached to my gravel vac is a pump to clean more thoroughly. I also have an under gravel tray. I've never had a problem

I've used it for 8 years and knock on wood no problems yet

I have always used crushed coral. Just a personal preference
