Set Up My First Saltwater tank

Ok. Thanks for clarfying. Where is the r/o water located in the wal-mart? I can buy some ro water $1.25 a gallon which is what I will do for water changes. Will this help with the algae? I have my salinity up at 1.024 now. I'm thinking to speed the cycle up a little, do a small water change once...

Set Up My First Saltwater tank

Hello. I got a free 29 gallon aquarium from a friend and I turned it into a saltwater aquarium that I'm gonna keep clownfish, and others in. I first filled the tank with tap water and then used reef crystal salt as someone at my lfs reccomended for tap water. I let it sit for 24 hours. I then...

Thinking of turning my 120 into salt

I have a 120 gallon freshwater tank..... but should I start as a beginner with a 40 gallon or should I jump right into the 120? I'm strongly considering converting my 120 gallon into a saltwater aquarium I mean I already have the tank, stand, lights, glass covers, heaters, and 2 filters. All I...

Ok so I'll do 1 firefish. So how would this be: a pair of clownfish, 1 firefish, 1 watchman goby, a pistol shrimp, some inverts, 1 alage blenny, and 1 bangii cardinalfish ( was told by lfs I can only have 1 or 3 in a 40)

So how would this be for my 40 gallon breeder? a pair of clownfish, a pair of firefish gobies, either a yellow watchman goby or a blue spotted watchman (slightly bigger, the yellows at the store are often less than an inch while the blues are almost usually 2-3''), and bandgi cardinals or should...

I'm entering the saltwater hobby need advice please

Ok so here's the deal. I'm stuck trying to figure out tank size. It's either going to be a 29 gallon or a 40 gallon breeder or a 55 gallon. If I go with a 40 gallon breeder, could I do 2-3 occellaris clownfish (maybe 2 regulars and a snowflake), a yellow watchman goby, a lawnmower blenny, and...

One of my friends is closing his 125 salt and going back to fresh. He is offering all of his live rock to me. However, I don't plan to set my salt tank up until November at the earliest. Could I keep the live rock alive in a rubbermaid tub with his saltwater and an air pump?

My fish store was telling me that it is ok to mix occellaris with snowflake clowns is this true? Most of the clownfish tanks are marked O.R.A. what does this mean? I didn't see any regular occellaris just snowflakes and blacks. Are the regular ones not marketable or sellable or could they have...

Thank you very much for your help!!!! I went in to my lfs today and they a 5 gallon bucket of Ocean Sea Salt Mix and right now it's priced at 69 dollars but he suggested I wait until Black Friday to get it because it will be only 30 dollars so I put in my order for 4 of them. How long do you...

SG is Salinty? I will only mix water like a day or 2 before a water change so it has had a chance to sit. Very familour with those used to work as a line cook/chef.

Ok awesome. So any ordinary garbage barrel is good? Just fill a 30 gallon Brute garbage can to the top and then add the salt. Add a heater and a pump. Sounds much easier now.
