    URGENT - Yellow Tang Issue

Hi, so I've had my Yellow Tang in my HT/QT for three weeks today. I've had two clowns in there for over 2 months now. I have a hang on back filter PVC pipe and whatever. I noticed today that my tang is moving around rather quickly bolting around the tank. I thought this is its typical...

Whites on for only three or four hours? I think I have mine for 6 and I was under the impression that's really the minimum you should have when you have coral in there. I could drop mine to three hours and see how that clears some of the stuff up but usually my fish want to have the lights on...

Oh boy. I didn't think about that at all. And you're right. As soon as I changed the fixture from my CFL's it started to get a bit more noticeable until just a week or two ago when it was full out disaster mode. The light spectrum is: 460 nm actinic blue lamps and 10,000K ultra daylight...

Firecracker is a strong possibility at this time Keifer! BTLD: To rid the cyano I've decreased the amount of time my lights are on. I can't completely knock it off though as I have coral in my tank that will suffer due to lack of light. I've also removed (multiple times) much of the cyano by...

    Cyano - 2 , Sparty - 0

As you can tell, I've modified the titled a bit. There is a reason for this. Today I came home took a glance at my tank to notice the cyano is officially out of control. It has practically covered my sandbed, as well as fully covered a mexican turbo snail of mine. Many of the other snails...

I'll send them to you... you take care of them for a few weeks then send em back! :-) I'd actually consider it if you were able to rid it of all the gha and cyano! I'd save a ton in the long run. I'm going to need someone to watch after my green star polyp and the other coral that's slipping...

Yeah, I'm not really looking to buy them. I just would like to keep the ones I have. They multiply like crazy so plucking even 20 out would probably be suffice. But I just don't like the fact that I'd kill hundreds if I boil the rock without trying to clean them out. I think most of them...

Corey man, no offense taken! I wish someone would have warned me... I cleared the shelf with 4 bags when I bought my tank. The store was probably thrilled to see all that sand taken off the shelf haha. It's such an ugly look! Anyway, I'll get new sand and look into the site yore talking...

    Cyano - 2 , Sparty - 0

I'm leery of bleaching. It's always been something that has left me a little unsure of. However, the idea to remove the rock and sand isn't because I know I won't have cyano... in fact I know if I have the same habits as before then I probably will get it again. Boiling the rock might be a...

Yeah, I'm going to set it up again, but the problem is would be that my rocks have algae and cyano on them. So I don't want to bring that junk into my next setup. Why would I hold onto it?

Ok, I just turned on the lights in my tank to find that my cyano that I thought was under control has become a huge problem. So I have decided there's no better time than now to take my tank down and throw all rock and sand out. My only question was if there is anyway I can salvage all of my...

    QT Update

Ok, so I checked everythingo ut and everything seems fine. Also, my Yellow Tang has been getting much more color as the days have been going on. The "Brown Dots" that I had thought were on the tang seem to just be a shade on the tang. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem anymore. It's...

    Any idea what this is?

Just a quick update. The pest was indeed aptasia. When I put a needle on it the dead shrunk up into itself. So I doused it with joes juice. We will see what happens. Than everyone for the identification!!!! :-)
