Can I put this in my tank?

Don't mean to hijack but I have a question on the same subject. I have some drift wood that I collected at the river for my fw tank I was wondering if I could use it in my sw tank for decor and hiding spots. If so what would I need to do to clean it before puting it in the tank?

    what do you all think

Phoenix that's a good idea. I am going to keep most of the water (as much as possible). The tank is 80g. It also has 60-80 lbs of lr in it too. None of that will be replaced with new stuff. Just want the cc out. Sand looks so much better.

    what do you all think

I have to drain the tank and take the fish and lr out to move it anyway. Wouldn't that be a good time to get rid of the cc? I was thinking of getting most of the water out first then scooping out the cc so the levels of the water wouldn't be effected.

    what do you all think

I am moving my new (to me) tank in this next weekend. I was thinking about removing the cc while I moved it so any waste stirred up would be disposed along with the cc. My lfs won't have any live sand in for 2 weeks. How bad would it be to have nothing besides lr in the tank with the fish for a...

    coral to sand?

I wasn't sure where to post this so this seemed like a good place to start. I want to take the crushed coral out of a tank and replace it with fiji pink sand. What is a good way to harvest the little critters out of the coral back into the sand.

I would post pics but I can't because I am posting from my sidekick. As soon as I get my comp back I will put pics up. The tank is an 80g show. So its long. The tank has around 60lb of live rock and I'm in the process of switching out the crushed coral for figi pink sand. I am going to do about...

I was given a clown trigger [along with an 80g tank] by a guy that didn't want it anymore. He has a clown in it as well but I'm not sure what I can put in the tank with the trigger. It needs more than 2 fish in there. The tank is fully set up and has been established for 4 years.

    This may be incredibly dumb?

That's fine. I wasn't expecting any freshwater sand to be live in a saltwater tank. It would just be for looks. Belive it or not there is sand in the lake that is light blue with red flakes in it. Realy weird but natural to the lake.

    This may be incredibly dumb?

I meant from a lake not the ocean and not beach persay but nice sand from a local very clean lake. I was implying diving off-shore at the lake and getting some good lookin sand for a base in my new tank. If I wash it good would it be ok to use? Not to sound cheap but I wanna have fun with this...

    This may be incredibly dumb?

What about beach sand? Can that be used for a nice looking bace layer for a tank if it is rinsed and cleaned good? Up here in Reno we have Lake Tahoe (The cleanest and clearest lake in the US) and there is some nice lookin sand on them there beaches. :) . I wonder if that would be ok
