    Worried about my toadstool coral

I have been starting to worry about my toadstool coral.. I have had it for about a week and a half, and I haven't seen its tentacles for about 3 days. Today when the light came on, it emitted what looked like a milky substance, and then some white stringy stuff. It looked like a really think...

    Some kind of anemone?

Hmmm, just looking at another post.. looks like it might be Aiptasia? I also read that lemon juice injected in this would kill it, and was reef safe, can anyone confirm? Thanks

    Some kind of anemone?

I believe this is some sort of anemone that hitchhiked in on a frag from the LFS. Can anyone identify? And is it safe, or should I get rid of it? Thanks

Does the height of the light matter?

Thanks for the info. The light has fans ontop, and some venting area in the back. Instead of painting, I put up some alum foil inside of the cabinet between the tank and the light. I think it made a big difference. Definately brighter, and fewer shadows. A clam would be cool.

Does the height of the light matter?

Sorry, I should have given more details... I wasn't thinking.. It's a 442 watt light. 1x 250W DE HQI Bulb 15K, 2x 96W CF Bulb Actinic Blue. I often just use one of the actinics though, because I think it looks better. It is a 30 gallon tank, 17" or so tall. Currently the tank has 2 clowns, 3...

    Salt water in septic tank

Interesting points. The tank is concrete. It woudn't be alot of salt water - and not very often. I only have a 30 gallon tank - so it would just be whenever I need to do partial water changes.

    Salt water in septic tank

Does anyone know - If I put salt water (from water changes) down my toilet, will it mess up my septic tank? IE: will the salt mess up the bacteria and bio that makes the septic tank work? Thanks

Does the height of the light matter?

I have my light installed in my cabinet about 14" above the water level. Am I losing any noticeable amount of the light by it dispersing before it hits the water? The inside of the cabinet is black - maybe I should paint it white?. I might be able to lower the light to sit on top of the...

    Partial Water Change After Cycle??

So, if I do a partial water change, should I have slightly higher than desired salt in the new water to make it balance out. or should I have my desired level in the new mix, and just increase it over multiple water changes? Would it cause any problems if I just slowly added a little bit of salt...
