How does a good powerhead get rid of suspended particles? i would think it just pushes them around!

guys you have never let me down so here is a potentially tough one.....my tank is 115 g FOWLR with a 20 g refugium. Its been up about 9 mos and alls well, but i have had trouble getting rid of suspended particles and want to return to the pristine conditions when i started. I do 20% water...

yeah but its the same problem....i just read instructions and it suggests to restrict the pump or inflow...how do i do that? i dont see anyplace on skimmer to adjust incoming water.

i wish i knew how to return to original setup...that also produced bubbles occassionally and i would solve by twisting the skimmer in the fuge compartment. is there a safe way to restrict the pump? i thought if i do that it might burnout....

go slow, wait until cycle is finished. they serve no great purpose til then

Pls help, i have searched the forum on microbubbles but nothing previous seems to address my dillemma. Tank is 115g FOWLR with Sump/Fuge below. Its about 9 mos new, all was working fine until stupid me decided to tinker with the skimmer (brand is Catalina) and now microbubbles are everywhere...

so that is good....right? this stuff breaks down the organic products that flow down from the DT? sorry for such an ignorant question.....do they do anything about nitrates or other trace elements i want eliminated?

microfauna...that sounds like plantlife. these are definitely creatures. one little critter grabbed a shrimp pellet on its way to the ground....i did not even know it was sitting there waiting for it. this tank is teeming with life and its a little scary since if i saw this stuff in my house...

maybe s/he wants to sell us the secret? i got my temp down about 10 degrees blowing a fan across the surface and another on the sump. which was good b/c i got no place to put a chiller, and no mo money!

i set up a new 115 g tank and refugium in june this year. the fuge has mineral mud, LR, chaeto, a few snails and hermits. well the thing starte to look pretty narly after a while, with algae growth of all kinds. tonite i check it out and there are no less than 3 forms of life in there i can...

its a percula. figures...more gambling, thats what i HATE about this hobby!

i know there is alot of discussion of this but i could not find answer through a search. i have a large clownfish its been in my DT for 4 months and i want to pair it up. Does it matter if i go with a different species (ie maroon) or does it need an identical partner? any chance my large one...

thats a terrific idea and i did it...but now i see the duct tape left behind a residue. whats the safest way to take this off acrylic?

You may have seen my thread..."what have i gotten myself into?" well your advice has been great...nearly all problems solved. but my sand is looking green and mostly purple under the surface, and i just cannot seem to get the refugium jumpstarted. Tank is only 2 mos old. 115 g. FOWLR about...
