well I don't know how it is sand I havew overflows in the top tank and I am not sure what it is I haven't seen it in the year in half that it has been setup I just didn't know if it had anything to do with it

I am using a medusa controler and a pump I have it to where when it gets too hot it turns the pump on and I have a pvc tubing ran in the back of my frige and it keeps my 150 gallon tank at 78 to 79 with 2 250watt metal halides

it is a SALINITY REFRACTOMETER and you can get one at <a href="http://www.northcoastmarines.com/REFRACT.htm" target="_blank">http://www.northcoastmarines.com/REFRACT.htm</a> $80.00 that is what I use and it works great

now from noon till 8:00 pm metal halides only 12000K 2 250 watt. I was running 2 140 watt 50/50 vho's from noon till 6:00pm then the metal halides from 5:30pm till 9:00pm
