    Sediment on Top of Water?

We have cats so I do have a lid on the tank with some space left open on the back. I've got an overflowbox going into the sump (into a filter sock and there is another filter sponge in the sump) that has a protein skimmer in it. It seems like a small powerhead directed towards the top of the...

Diary Of My Cycled FOWLR Tank!

Thanks again...If I can find a small Maroon that is probalby the direction I would go, I think that they are great looking. Thanks again for the complements on my tank. I had to rearrange the LR once to how it looks now...looked like a mess the first time I set it up. You are lucky to have a...

    Sediment on Top of Water?

I've just noticed that I have some sediment sitting on the top of the water. I don't believe that it is a flow issue, but it hasn't always been this way...used to be crystal clear. I've recently pointed the head of one of my PHs more towards the bottom of the tank to help with the detritus...

Diary Of My Cycled FOWLR Tank!

On all of the sites that I have looked at they state that the Maroon is aggressive, guess I should do a little more reading. Also, from what I have read the blenny and hawkfish would ge along. Thanks again for your help.

Diary Of My Cycled FOWLR Tank!

Alright I'm sold! Now my fish list looks like this: 1. Lawnmower Blenny (I think my tank will be okay...I can see all of the rock through the bottom so it doesn't look like I have to worry about the blenny collapsing my rock work) 2. Percula Clown 3. Sixline Wrasse 4. Foxface 5. Flame...

quick getting tank today need help

I set up a tank, not pre-drilled and am using an overflow box into the sump and have had no issues. I know some people don't like overflow boxes, but my tank seems to be doing pretty well so far.

    pH Fluctuations?

I've read that too, but I've also read that a fluctuation of more then .2 over the course of a 24 hour period is too much. I just want to be sure that there is nothing to worry about, or if there is something I should do to try to correct it. Thanks

    pH Fluctuations?

I know...another pH question...sorry, but mine tested really low this morning at about 7.9. Typically it has been in the 8.2 - 8.4 range. This is the first time that I have tested my water this early in the morning, but the range of 7.9 to 8.4 seem severe. My other parameters are...

Diary Of My Cycled FOWLR Tank!

Went to the LFS (a closer store then the one where I originally purchased the CUC)to get some shells for my Red Leg Hermits. The only shells they had that appeared to be big enough were turbo and astraea shells. I bought a couple, but I'm afraid that they might be a little too large. How...

Diary Of My Cycled FOWLR Tank!

Thanks again... I'm glad that I added a CUC containing much fewer inverts then what most of the sites recommend. The are doing a number on the tank...the diatoms are practically gone and the algea is not growing as quickly as it was before so they seem to be keeping it under control. I do have...
