that is some sort of SPS, not really sure on the species. it was fairly abundant. edit - NVM, you are right that is fire coral. technically not a coral, closer to jellyfish on the family tree. i thought you were talking about the bright orange sponge...

hM? there really is not a fire sponge pic... it only makes a cameo in a few shots... although one time jeff had the camera and there was one cluster i came up on that had this most awesome crazy smiley face formed out of the nooks.

yea we have done pennekamp a bunch of times (as it is easier to get to) and so we wanted to get down to the better reefs. well at least 10 years ago looe key blew pennekamp out of the water.

they have a couple of disposable options nowadays. if you have a regular digi, check online for u/w cases for it.

you might find he wont eat the mussels / clams either because he is stressed. go to a LFS and get some brine shrimp. this shrimp is nutritionally worhtless, but gets em to start eating. then start mixing in some mysis and ween off the brine.

just test it with your kit if you have doubts

those 5g jugs of RO are ok, just make sure it is not drinking water, but RO.

oh and a fuge with cheato works wonders.

your in a self-defeating cycle. you are adding phosphates into your system way faster than any supplemental pad could possibly help. until you get your RO unit installed, get RO from the grocery or hardware store. your phosphates could be the least of your problems with tap water... after...
