What are these two things and are they good or bad?

How old is your tank? How much do you feed? How long are your lights on? How often do you do water changes?

    Need input on ICH

I don't know about the PraziPro, I thought the only thing that got rid of Ich was copper. IIRC, I thought that the treatment would be to put the fish in a QT with some copper and leave the DT empty of fish for 6 weeks. Copper kills inverts too and I think leeches into the tank like Panacur...

    please help

You need to go back and read Ann's post number 14. Make sure you are using RO/DI water or water that you've treated for chlorine. The pH needs to be the exact same in both the salt and fresh. What I've done in the past is to get the pH perfect, then work on the temp, keep an airline and...

    please help

I know it's hard! But you've got to do it! It's not the water that's causing your baby to thrash, it's probably the parasites coming off it that is causing it. In your case, the thrashing is a good thing, that means that if you look really, really close you'll probably see the parasites...

    culturing phyto questions

I just started my first cultures of phytoplankton. I've bought the supplies from Florida Aqua Farms and am using 2 liter bottles to culture in. I noticed that they have a set up that is built from PVC in which they use plastic bags to culture the phyto. Has anyone tried using plastic bags...

    water flow / powerheads

+1 with Teresa on the chiller. I have 3 seahorse tanks and 1 reef tank, I've finally got chillers on all of them. I think that is probably the best piece of equipment I've spent my money on. In the other thread, I posted a photo of my powerheads with the window screen on them. I'll admit that...

Plumbing pipes and sizes for sump and return.

Here's a photo of my return. The photo also shows my powerheads with the screen covering them. They aren't that pretty but I don't have to worry about my horses getting stuck in them.

Plumbing pipes and sizes for sump and return.

On the question of flow, what kind of seahorses are you planning on keeping? On my H. erectus tank, I used PVC to bring the return back into the tank and by drilling holes into a piece of piping, I made my own spray bar across the back of the tank. That allows me to diffuse the water and get...

Help, taking apart tank?? Bobbitt Worm

Oooh!!! Love the video. I'm trying to upload some too but it won't be as nice!! I've put the link on a scuba forum where I've been posting the whole hunting story. Lois, thanks for thinking about other pieces of it!! Very little of that rock will go into my reef tank or seahorse tanks...

Help, taking apart tank?? Bobbitt Worm

I looked in it's bucket a few minutes ago and it was in half now. I hadn't moved the bucket or done anything but wonder if it is a defensive tactic. I think I remember reading somewhere that it can generate another worm from the half that it broke off.

Help, taking apart tank?? Bobbitt Worm

Sorry Renee, I was really hoping to be able to take it alive. I really hate to kill anything, especially if someone wants it. I tested the tank water this morning. Ammonia is 0 and Nitrites are 0. How long would it take for there to be a reading if there was going to be one?
