thanks quills...and idk if this is right or wrong but in the past I usually use like 10lbs of rock from my DT in my QT tank and then after im done I let the rocks dry out in my basement for a month or two then just toss them back in my tank...im sure this isn't the safest way considering disease...

Yeah my flow rate into the tank must be to much because my tank level doesn’t sit at the bottom of the over flow slits like u think it would...the water level is about half way up the slits and draining into the overflow...and then when u look in the drain water column the water level in there...
