    Cheap sand

I've read that childrens play sand, like the kind put in sand boxes can work. I'm not an expert by anymeans, in fact I'm in the same situation as you. I'm looking for sand for my reef tank. I'm leaning toward a 50% mix of live sand with sand from Homedepot and live rocks.

    Do I need a Sump

I don't have one yet. I want to make sure I buy one that fits my needs. I'm looking at a 65 seaclear II with a built in the back filter just like a Nano tank or at least that is how the guy describes it. I'm new to this so that description doesn't mean much to me.

light requirements for a coral tank

I'm going to stick with soft corals. I will not say money is not an option, but I'm getting a nice tax return so I don't want to skimp on what I've read can be a very very important component.

thanks, I plan on purchasing a tank this week and starting the cycle this weekend. If everything goes as planned I should have a tank. If I get the tank by the weekend, should I add the rock to an uncycled tank or wait until it cycles and then add?
