I agree - great explanation! Also, I believe a deep sand bed (4-6" seeded, as previously explained) is very beneficial when it matures for biological filtration (nitrate reduction) Good luck with your tank revival!:D

by green - do you mean green algae? I have a few bright green spots, however, they are not like the slimy green algea that I would normally think of. I hope they are not bad - my trates are 10 and I started using RO water for top-offs and water changes 2 months ago. Maybe I still have too...

Thanks Wamp. Last night I peeked around with a flashlight and I caught a glimpse of a tentacle. Today I suspended krill in that general area and he reached out for it!!!:D :D It was exciting for this newbie!

I finally added my brittlestar to the main tank and he hid behind a pile of rocks in the back of the tank. I know this is normal and that they are nocturnal but I want to spot feed him. Will he ever come out or will he maintain this territory where I cannot reach him?

is one better than the other? I feed my Choc. chip star shrimp from the grocery store, however, I would like to feed him krill, as well. All I can find is freeze dried krill- is there a mojor difference?

Hi! I was just wondering..... where is your LFS? I graduated from BU but I spent alot of time partying with my UNH friends (well, we were friends as long as college hockey wasn't on, lol) Anyway, I know the area and need a better LFS than what's up here! Any suggestions?:D

My ammonia has been lingering around .25 for about 3 1/2 weeks, while my trites were o and trates were between 10 and 20. I was getting discouraged but decided to just wait it out. My ammonia tested 0 tonight and you'd think I'd just won the lottery!!! Should I do a 25% H2O change...
