pH is 8.1 the temp of the new water was 3-4 degrees cooler. all my tests test good with the exception of the amonia. It went from 0 pre change to .5 post. I believe tis is because of the disturbance of the tank and hope it will filter out within a few days. Did a 50% change b/c my calcium level...

Everything Else Checks Out Ok Test Wise

i DID MY WATER CHANGE AS WE SPOKE ABOUT IN MY OTHER POST "CALCIUM QUESTION" AND ALL HELL HAS BROKEN LOSE. wTAER IS CLOUDY, AMONIA HAS SPIKED FROM 0 TO .5, MY BANDED SHRIMPS ARM FELL OFF LAST NIGHT AND NOW HE IS DEAD. MY XENIA LOOK LIKE THEY ARE PEELING. WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW?

Try using some red slime remover. Cleared my tank up in 2 days!

ok well I did 50-60% change today. Going to let everything settle and will see what everything reads tomarrow. Going to get on a cycle of a 5 gallon change every friday, hopefully that will keep everything in check. Thanks for all the imput and help.

OK well I'll try and do a 50% change on wednesday. I'll let you know how it goes calcium wise. I should have my alk test by then as well, so hopefully all should be good from here on out.

ok well if I do a large scale water change, I will have to drain the water to a point that my live rock will be out of water for a few minutes. Will that harm it? Again wont a change that large cause the tank to cycle?

I have a 29g. I need to do a water change to bring up my calcium. If I were to do a change of 50% would that cause the tank to cycle again?

All my test kits are API. Is that a good brand?

one of the above posts questioned the water from the lfs. I went and checked what I had left from my last visit and it tested at 500ppm (25 drops). So i did a water change I only had about 5 gallons and my tank is 29. I'll get more water, and do another change in a few days, but at this point...

Well right now I have a xenia and a star polyp along with a single lonley mushroom. They seem fine, but my lr seems to be bleaching.
