Yea I think the T-5's are up there with the MH.

I think T-5 are the way togo. On another saltwater forum they had a tank of the month that wa 75 gallons running 4x54 watt T-5's and it was a sps tank and i think he had clams to.

How did you cycle the tank (liverock, uncooked shrimp)? Dont stir up the sand. The algae is most likely diatoms that come after the cycle. Normally after your ammonia and nitrites have come down to 0 you would do a 20 to 30% water change to bring the nitrates down. Have you tested for nitrates...

Just make sure you clean the filter floss every week so you dont have a nitrate build up.

I really dont think its your salt. i used to use IO but oceanic was on sale so I tried and just stuck with it. I think your calcium your using may be bad. I would try another brand of calcium supplement before switching salts.

Have your tried anyother source of calcium. I use REEF ADVANTAGE CALCIUM from seachem and i dose once a week. I have basically the same corals as you. I use oceanic salt and my waterchange has 300 to 350 ppm calciumin it. what salt brand are you using and have you tested it for calcium?

I would get 20 astreas snails , 20 nass. snails, 2 mexican turbo snails and 20 scarlet hermit crabs. I like to keep my tanks clean up crew stocked well.

your dkh i would get closer to 9.5 to 10. What is your calcium and how often do you dose for calcium? Do you have high calcium consumption corals?

Foam inserts are a nitrate trap, but if you clean them every week you shouldnt have a problem.

I never bought a reef package. I make up my own list and order from them. Some stuff in their reef packages i dont need.

Snails, crabs and shrimp!! I would put them in after the cycle and before fish.

Looks good but it might get a little overcrowded with for fish in the 20.

Email them. I never had to ship back a fish that I bought from them.

When you say your alk is fine what is the actual reading?

If you have liverock i would take the bio-noodles out. You wont nned them with the liverock. Just use the fluva to run carbon and for flow.
