    Base Rock

Hi Everyone, I want to stock my tank up with some rock and looking to save some bucks. Alot of people talk about Base Rock, but I can't find answers to the following questions. What makes good base rock? Where do I get it? What is a good ratio of Base Rock to Live Rock? Thanks.

    Flying Fish

So I'm watching a movie last night with the lights out when I look over at my 55 gal tank and I can see a dark shape on the carpet. I turned the lights on to see my 6 line wrasse lying on the carpet. I immediately freaked. I didn't know how long he had been there and he wasn't moving at all. I...

Coral Banded Shrimp - Mated Pair

I just picked up a Mated Pair of Coral Banded Shrimp from my LFS. One of the shrimp has a white sack on the side of its body and the guy at the LFS said it might be an egg sack. The sack is less attached to the body than the picture shows. Can someone confirm this ID.....

    Trigger Zen

I have a Picasso Trigger that I bought in the early days of my tank. I am regretting the decision after seeing how hostile it can be. It ate a blenny within seconds of putting it in the tank, and the other day during feeding time it almost bite my puffer in half. Am I fooling myself that there...

    Brown Algae

Decided to go the cheaper route and go to the local dealer to buy ready to go salt water. For anyone in the portland area check out Seahorse Aquarium. I was suspect of their water at first, but having only done 1 water change, I am already amazed at the improvement of water quality in my tank.

    Brown Algae

Thanks for the info. I guess when I said "Brown Algae" I might be jumping to assumptions, it is like a slime on the glass. I am a novice, but willing to learn. My tank is near a window, however it doesn't get "direct" sunlight. Is that still a major problem? My tank has been running for about 10...

    Brown Algae

I have on-going issues with Brown Algae. During a water change and tank cleaning I can make my tank look awesome, but within 24 hrs the glass will start to show significant signs of brown algae build-up. If it goes a couple of weeks my tank looks hideous. What is causing this problem and how do...
