Honestly, I have no experience with an algae turf scrubber. I am pretty new to the hobby myself (started my current 36 gallon fish tank in February and it is my first tank of any kind). As I understand it though the Protein Skimmer generally removes wastes at an earlier stage of the process...

Okay, so of the wrasses I listed above which one would be the best fit for my 36 gallon tank. Keep in mind my current fish are: Scissortail Dartfish Purple Firefish Diamond Watchman Goby Green Mandarin I had and removed a Flame Angel after it bullied my Firefish and started nipping at my...

Crap, my Diamond Watchman Goby can make the tank super cloudy on his own. I also know it's ridiculously expensive, but does anyone have any experience with a Dracula Goby?

The concern I have with the occ is getting territorial in my tank as it's only 36 gallons and it would be the only occ/clownfish in my tank. I really only have 1 real cave in my live rock formation (and after a number of rock shifts, etc. I am done moving my live rock as it took my wife and I...

Well after several days of giving the flame angel a shot, I finally decided to get rid of him. He began taking little nibbles at my corals and was blatantly bullying my purple firefish and took a nip at my scissortail. After several days of attempting to remove him with no success my wife and...

The bad news: The Mandarin is looking a bit skinny. The Good News: She is definitely starting to chow down on frozen mysis shrimp. Yesterday she swam up to a pretty good size piece gave it a sideways glance and took the whole thing in her mouth and chewed for a while and went after some I put...

Just figured I would introduce myself. I started my first tank ever around late February and after a major noob disaster and a more minor one, my 36 Gallon Aqueon Bowfront Reef Tank is up and running and almost completely stocked. Here is what it consists of: 2 HOB Filters (One is the...

    Tigers and two spots

It can be hard to keep sand shifters alive. They can deplete the food in the sand bed pretty fast then they starve, even those that eat prepared foods. My diamond goby lasted about a year before he just disappeared, he ate prepared food but still seemed to get skinny over time.

Just watched our Diamond Goby dive into the sand... why???

...I'm brand new here and as soon as this happened, I had to google it but I can't find anything on it! LOL My son and I were watching our diamond goby build a ramp like structure with the crushed coral substrate after he had just made a huge hole there yesterday of course lol. So we're...

...It's a Coral Beauty and seems do be doing great! Our max amount of fish would be like 5-8 small ones. All in all, for example, I have: Diamond Goby(so much fun to watch), 2 clowns(ocellaris and snowflake), coral Beauty, a wrasse(can't remember the exact kind. Black with a blue strip down the...

    my new wish list

In my opinion that is too risky. That is a situation where tank transfer is a best option because it is proactive and is a much shorter time frame. You can take a bowl of sand from your DT and put it in the tank with the fish you just need to change the sand with each transfer. People do...

    Saddleback Butterfly,

Ok. I think I will try him out and handfeed if I have too. That's good to know.... it's funny I am actually going to be ordering from Live Aquaria.... good to know. It was either a saddleback or a yellow longnose. I think I want the saddleback now.

    Saddleback Butterfly,

...all over the tank. Currently his tank mates are a McKoskers flasher wrasse, a maroon clown, a pajama cardnal, a flame angel, and a diamond goby. He certainly holds his own at meal time. I bought him from live aquaria. Here is a pic from when he was in QT. Haven't been able to get a...
