    A Blast from the Past

    I found this picture in a pile of old photos. It's a pic of what my reef looked like in 1979. Complete with Crushed Coral, UG filter and a big Aiptasia on the wall. That poor PB Tang spent 8 years in that 55 gal :( If I only knew then what I know now.

    Calling Xenia Experts

    I have four types of Xenia in this picture. Can anyone id them from this photo? I know the one on the far right is Red Sea and I believe I know what the big one right in the middle is (Heteroxenia I think) but not the other two. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you Guy

    Clam = mini ecosystem

    I was just noticing the life beginning to build up on one of my Squamosas. There's Mushrooms, Xenia, Featherdusters, Vermitids, Coralline, even Mysid shrimp housed in the flukes. I just find it facinating.

    Aiptasia Control

    I received some Peppermint Shrimp from this site (Saltwaterfish.COM) yesterday. After acclimating them I placed them in one of my grow-out tanks that had a significant population of Aiptasia. This morning there were no Aiptasia in there at all, none. I just thought I should share.

    Terry B and Beth RE: Hyposalinity

    I've noticed that most of the hobbiests you've helped are not realizing the significance of keeping Salinity at precicely 14ppt. Instead they are fixated on keeping Specific Gravity at 1.009. I not saying you are wording the proceedure incorrectly, I just see examples of your recommended...

    Bumblebee Snails

    This isn't a bug of the week post (sorry). I've just come to the conclusion that there are at least three different species of snails being sold under the name "Bumblebee". This explains my confusion concerning these snails. The first one I ever saw was a Engina mendicaria. These snails prey...

    Tasha, Please don't take this the wrong way. It appears that your introduction into the hobby has been rather brutal. I would like to try and help by offering some opinions and suggestions. You can use the suggestions if you like, it's your choice. First, I recommend the book "The...

    What is a Healthy Coral?

    This post is intended to start an open-minded debate on what constitutes a healthy coral. If you're the type to become offended when someone doesn't share your point of view then you should probably stop reading now. This is a subtle dig to some of the responses I've read in the "Are You...
