Greenhorn--Please read and offer advice. Greatly appreciated!!

As far as fish slow it down. I was eager on the fish side but lost alot at first. The fish are going to only do well if parameters stay consistent. If you must do fish just go with Green Chromis. I think they are an underestimated fish. They are great looking fish as far as color, very active...

    Carbon in bulk

I want to buy larger quantities of carbon. I found on another site, sorry SWF.com, some large 5 gal buckets. Its described as Lignite carbon. I did not find many old threads about this type of carbon. Anyone have any insight to wether this might be a good deal or a tank killer?

Brittle Starfish just crushed and ate my cleaner shrimp?!

Ophiura, I have another post going about my anemone and looking pitiful. Can't help but wonder if there was any conflict with him and the star? My whole tank is not so hot today so I will check parameters but any known issues with green bubble anemone and stars?

    Possible reasons anemone looks pitiful

So typically this anemone has been super healthy and happy. I have the before pic. Yesterday I added some coral but nothing radical. I did add some calcium and buffer but again nothing radical. Today when its normally at its fullest it looks pathetic... Any first initial reasons?

Brittle Starfish just crushed and ate my cleaner shrimp?!

Jeez I never knew... I had this star for a year and its huge! I have never specifically feed it. I figured it was just a filter feeder. But yeah it picked on the brand new shrimp no wonder the others stay on the complete opposite end of the tank. Learn something all the time! $20 just like that...

Anyway I also have 2 cleaner shrimp they have been in there for more than a year. I bought two more...

Tank is 1 year old... Flow is insane with Mag 12 pump and 2 Mod Tunze. Turnover is like 32 times per hour. Its a 75gal. I am feeding mysis shrimp. I put in usually one small cube every other day and switch off with flake. My cleaning crew is getting down to a minumum. I don't have alot of...

Sand Bed growing algae daily then it goes away?

Parameters seem in line and tank looks great but I am getting a coating of what looks like brownish red algea atop of the sand bed daily. At night the layer goes away and sand is clear again. Then during the day its back. Is this a lighting issue or over feeding. Any suggestions?

Name this coral and whats going on...

    1. Anyone know the name of this coral? When I bought it, it was referred to as a cup coral.. 2. Its my favorite coral and for about 3 months its been flourishing but now it seems as if its deteriorating. I had it on my sandbed under MH and PC. The sandbed has had some red algae growing on it...

Clown Fish doesn't host my anemone

If it makes you feel better I have 2 clowns and a gorgeous BTA and it took 5 weeks of wondering if it would pair. Finally after a month they finally went into it and now they act like crackheads with it. Do the clowns like any particular coral? If so you can place it near the anem.

    Tank Upgrade

    1. Cycle time is going to vary from tank to tank. Use basic test kits for ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate to start out with. If you want to do well whenever you think its ready... add 2 weeks! 2. I used a Fluval canister filter to start with and it was awesome. I really like the power, water...
