I got this off a leg of a oil platform in Gulf of Mexico out of Mobile Al. I thought it was a sponge but not sure now. It is spreading to other rocks. Have had it about 3-4 weeks (maybe a little longer). Anyone know what it is..and what the results (good or bad) will be... It is in a reef tank...

I have been fighting red algae on my gravel. I have been changing 10gal of water ever one to two days after stiring up the rock to get the algae mobile. Is this too many water changes. Do I lose things I need by doing this? thanks.terry

They will do that. After it gets used to the tank it might do that several times a day. Mine have done this for several days sometimes. Water movement and light will also effect this. Sometimes you have to move it to different part of tank. Good Luck ..terry

Have 600watts vho white and aquatic. Bulbs about 30days old. Have just cut back light time from 12hrs to 8hrs yesterday. Did another 10gal water change today. 10 gal yeaterday also. Tank is 110gal.
