    Power Head Condom!

Just a note about power heads...make sure you have guards on the intake. Even with the guards provided with them, I have had 2 anemones caught in them; both died. I saved my foxface when he got caught against one too. He didn't really get sucked in, more like stuck sideways on the guard. I think...

Acrylic U stands for suspending LR

I saw a posting somewhere for using stands to keep rock off of the sand/cc. I thought that I might like to try this & found an economical answer. They are pretty reasonable in a store supply catalog that I have. Add a .com & you have it! Looks like you can get several stands for about $20.

Newbie help~reef feeding, powerheads & anemone sick

Thanks uberlink! My anemone has almost completely freed himself and is starting to perk up. I really hate to let him die without trying. I thought that when(if) he gets free that I might a loose rubber band around a rock to keep him grounded for a while. I don't have a refugium. Dog gone it...

Newbie help~reef feeding, powerheads & anemone sick

The anemone had been attached & let himself loose. Bad news though...last night he free floated & got caught in the Maxi 1200 jet. Found him this morning in pretty bad shape;( I do have the guard on the intake. I saw a post that said to use a waffle ball on intakes to help stop this. I...

Newbie help~reef feeding, powerheads & anemone sick

Thanks for the reply...I was getting worried no one would respond. So far, so good on the urchin & brittle stars. When I ordered the stars the info said 3-6". They arrived at a good 10-12" ea. The urchin is doing good....poops like a chain smoker! I will definitely keep an eye on the coral...

Newbie help~reef feeding, powerheads & anemone sick

The amount of info here is overwhelming! Just when I thought things were doing OK. My anemone has a lot of gunk on his base. I posted a pic at diseases & treatments (really need help here). While reading posts I feel that I need to add some feeding programs to my tank mates. The inhabitants...

This is a long tentacle anemone that has been looking poorly to me. I moved him to a higher water flow & picked up the feeding of krill. Any advice to help him out before it is too late? He still latches on when feeding him.

Help to identify white/cottony growth on new LR

I have just added a janitor reef package and 45# of Fiji LR 2 days ago to a tank that has been setup since Jan. 01. I only had 4 damsels prior to this addition. Tests appear to be normal but this white stuff is starting to grow. I have at least 8 colonies of it & is spreading. I searched...
