    Red Algae? Diatoms? Brown Algae?

Our tank is 3 months old and we just upgraded to a quad t-6 fixture. Our water parameters are normal - nitrates/nitrites 0, ph 8.2. This stuff just appeared - What is it? The purple algae seems to be disappearing. Is there possibly some silica just now coming from the base rock? Is there some...

Orange marked hermit crab destroyed coral!

They are large crabs with orange stripes/dots on the legs. They tumble through whatever they want. Off to the LFs they go... By the way, I like our tiny scarlet and blue legged crabs... they stay away from the corals, don't knock stuff over, and eat lots of algae. We got the orange marked...

    Little yellow crab?

Well if I find more than one I'll keep my fingers crossed for a neon-yellow crab population explosion in my tank, then I can market 'em. The LFS that I like best always has live rock with some bizarre hitchhikers, and an aiptasia anemone or two, but that's normal I guess. Of course, it helps...

    Little yellow crab?

No... I still have no idea. It's a bit brighter than the yellow tang, and tiny, and it's definitely some kind of crab, however small... I guess it's not a problem though!

    Little yellow crab?

I was just looking in the aquarium and there is a tiny neon yellow crab scurrying around. It's a little less than two centimeters wide... It's in the general shape of a true crab, not like a hermit. We recently had some kind of eggs in the tank but there has been some LR recently added so it's...

    Help ID coral hitchhiker

I really can't, unfortunately! The camera won't zoom in any more without losing focus - the same effect can be done by just using a "zoom in" with the windows image preview program... It looks like little star-shaped pink/purple polyps with white heads coming out of a purple base.

    Help ID coral hitchhiker

I was wondering what the pinkish purple coral is on the right hand side (assuming it is a coral)? If anyone has an idea... Let me know.

    Angry gramma

I recently bought a yellow tang, and he's been extremely playful with the other three fish in the tank (two clowns and one royal gramma.) At least, he's been trying to, the clowns ignore him and the gramma hides. The problem is that he's been going into the gramma's hiding place and now the...

    Do I have eggs?

So we came home from work today and and one of the hermit crabs had knocked over a rock (he's knocked over three today at least, he must be moody) and noticed that there was something that looked much like eggs on what was recently the bottom of the rock. In the tank we have: -two clownfish -one...

Formula One has copper - is if safe?

I noticed that my formula one frozen food has copper sulfate listed as one of the ingredients. I thought copper was bad for invertebrates... But it says it is reef safe. Is it?
