well, all skimmers have a few days break in period.

The valve probably handles the amount of water flow. Like the SeaClone model skimmer the more open the valve the more air but less water flow. Close the valve and more water flows and less air.

I have the same kind of Frogspawn!! Thats what he looks like open.

If I were you I would invest in a PinPoint PH monitor. They are very accurate once properly calibrated. They cost like 80 bucks and work very well.
