    Hello, I have been trying to figure out why I have lost my inverts. (fish are fine. ) People on this board suggested testing for copper. (I live in a hard water area). I did not detedt any copper with the salifert test. I dropped in a poly filter, and 3 days later, its BRIGHT blue. any ideas??

    well..First off. I would like to thank everyone for the responses...however, I am EXTREMLEY frustrated to report, I just got home with my new salifert copper test, and have 0 traces of copper in my tank water, ro water, OR tap water... what else can it be??????? I am ready to pull my hair out!!!

    It's funny you mention the sand bed....I noticed it has been full of bubbles recently..they are slowly rising to the top. I wonder is this could have anything to do with it..I will go check phosfates again right now...

    Is it possible to still have copper in top-off water even if I am running a ro/di unit? I have lost ALL of my inverts, fish seem fine. All other parameters are normal. (do not own a copper test). This was an established tank, and has been set back up in a different city with very hard water...
