All of the acrylic tanks I've ever heard of get scratched up. Plastic by nature is softer than glass so in the long run you will get marks on it. Also, "scratch resistant" doesn't mean scratch proof so I would be wary. I guess a fish only tank would work without any lr.

I've only seen filters that have the bioballs above the water line in the sump with the overflow trickling over them.

On my 180 I used a spray paint that I picked up at my local Home Depot. It is a deep blue with metallic sparkles and when the light hits it there is almost a "starlight" sheen to it.
