    Got Lazy And Got Algae

Hello, long time no post. I have a 100 gallon reef tank. Everything is great. HOWEVER, because of its healthiness I got lazy. Bubble algae got way out of control but about 15 minutes 2 or 3 times a week is getting it kind of under control. That’s a long term problem. But my real problem is just...

    Purple Stuff

My tank is about a year old and I enjoy all the new growth that it produces. In the last few months a purple algae has begun to grow. At first I thought it was healthy, now I am concerned it is taking over the tank. Its on the rock, glass and snails. Is it healthy? Can I scrape it off the front...

    Bubble Algae update

I posted a couple of weeks ago about what was diagnosed as Bubble Algae. The consensus was to get a couple of Emerald Crabs to eat them. Did it. Emerald Crabs were a good addition to the tank but they are not eating the BA. I thought I could pop them but they are hard as a rock and float around...

    Wood Tick Looking Little Balls???

My 100 reef tank is about 9 months old doing good. I now have about 100 to 200 little egg looking balls through out it. Some are very small and others are the size of a dime. They look like wood ticks. Does anyone know what they are? Are they harmful?

    Bubble Tip

:notsure: Last night I was moving some rock in my tank and some rock shifted. Apparently my BTA was attached to two different rocks and split about 3/4 down the middle. Can it split into two BTAs? Will it die? It appears to doing well but I am uncertain of its furture. Any ideas.

    Cleaner Clam

This week I purchased two clowns, a yellow tank, a cleaner shrimp, ???? star (reef safe) and a cleaner clam from SWF.com. Everthing acclamated well. All is good except, I can't find the cleaner shrimp and the cleaner clam has never moved. The clam was placed in my RUF which does not have sand...

    wild caught invertbrates?

This is a good question. Just this week we have found 100's of live sand dollars, OK not a good idea for live sand. But we have also found very beatiful snails. I though that it was never OK to introduce species directly from the ocean, in my case the Gulf of Mexico. I used to do it when I had a...

    High Temp

I have the same problem and 82 is the lowest temp I can maintain constantly. I have two 2 inch fans installed with the hood but my temp was rising to the 89 range. I bought some $5.00 five inch fans at Wal-mart and have a fan on my pumps under the tank and strapped two fans by the hood as...

    Bubble Tip Anemones

I have the same question. I feed my BTA a peice of fish the size of a dime. He ate it right up. Was the amount I fed to small? I would like to feed it weekly. Can they be over fed? :notsure:

    Bubble Tip Anemones

BTA came out today and is on the rock in a great place. I think it may be hungry or needed more light. I'm going fishing in the morning and will feed it some fish when I get back. I assume that it would need a chunk of fish or shrimp the size of a quarter of a dime. Do I just place it in the...

    Wet carpet

What is "simple green". I have invested ($50.00) in a small wet dry vac. I had an old one but it didn't have half the power of the new ones. It can suck the water from the pad. It still smells for a day or two so put some fabreez(?).
