I do not have any personal experience but have heard that sand dollars are very destructive & eat a lot of food. Not a good idea for a reef tank. But like I said, Ive only heard this, not experienced it. Good luck.

This is a good question. Just this week we have found 100's of live sand dollars, OK not a good idea for live sand. But we have also found very beatiful snails. I though that it was never OK to introduce species directly from the ocean, in my case the Gulf of Mexico. I used to do it when I had a fish only tank but I had only about 5% invested in it than I do my current reef tank. Can I introduce "reek safe" species into my tank directly from the Gulf??

No, this was stuff from the shore. I guess what you are saying is what ever it is, it must be cured. Please advise. :happyfish
