i had this same problem I called the manufacturer for the bio cube. and they sent me free of charge new ballasts. the ones you showed a picture of are the old style. they were happy to replace them for free. if you have to leave a message with them do so they called me back in less than 24hrs

you can use the reflective egg crate that is found in the lighting section of home improvement stores.

try aqua world on rt 65 just past bellvue they are awsome there and their prices are very resonable.

what size holes do you have drilled in the top. mine used to be really loud but I made the holes a little bigger and if quited it allot.

sounds like the impeller is stuck. probably a bit os sand particles in side if you can take the impeller out you can flush it with clean water. most pumps come apart. then put impeller in and turn it manually. the magnets inside might make it only turn around a click or two this is normal. put...

the skimmer is probably not defective. it takes some time to adjust it. it looks like you have very little bio load. what I do if my skimmer puts out a water is mess with the air flow in the skimmer and adjust the height. it trial and error sometimes. hang in there youll get it right

why are you putting all the gunk back into the system. you are gonna create problems by doinging this. i think you need to adjust the skimmer so that it does not water as much.

yes it is safe in the reef you must follow directions exactly.

why dont you just modify the clamp a little bit. create a notch in the middle so it can go around the brace.

sorry to hear you are having problems. you had such a wonderful tank. I have been reefing for over 6years and my tank is not even close to what you had/have. lighting is a pain and causes all kinds of problems sometimes. you just have to go with the flow and do some scrubbing.

yes he is correct the product is made by ultra life reef products called red slime remover. it works wonders and if you get your water quality fixed up you should never have to use the product again. also watch your protein skimmer output. if you dont watch your skimmer can overflow.

I had red slime for a while too. i tried everything. i did find one thing that worked and I have not had it since. There is a power product out there called "Red Slime remover" made by "ultralife reef products" . it is about $20 for a small vial of it. it won't harm fish inverts or corals. jk
