    Sick Bubble Coral?

I have a bubble coral in a 29 gallon tank. I feed my whole tank a couple of times a week with microvert (I have quite a few mushrooms and other softies). I have heard that they like the occasional frozen food, which I put in a couple of times a month. That is all that I do. I have had it now...

    post full tank pics

Here's my 29 gallon. It has been setup a little over a year now, but I have been battling hair algae. It is finally going away! :joy:

Jusy got back from the LFS... Look what I got!!!

That is how my clown fish sleep every night (they don't have an anemone host). If you have the lights out, they might just be sleeping?!

    damaged zoos

During the holidays, my bubble coral accidentally got bumped by one of my fish and was within reach of my zoos. I am not sure how long he was able to bother them (not more than a day), but it was enough to damage them. They are still alive (as far as I can tell), but not looking so hot and not...

    Mushrooms... ... ..

Possibly coral warfare? Have you added any new ones lately, or really disturbed any of them? I could be way off; I have never had any problems with my mushrooms, but my bubble coral did a number on my zoos!

    Bubble algae?

Got rid of the "bubble", and yes!!! I still have a hair problem! I am ready to throw my all of my crabs out of the window! They refuse to get up on any of the rocks to clean the stuff off; they just graze the sand bed! I have been hand picking for sometime, and I am hoping that it will be...

    anyone have a gorgonian?

Actually, the deep sea yellow gorgonian is just that, from the deep sea! It doesn't have any lighting requirements, and in fact prefers as low light as possible. It does have to have high water quality, and will not tolerate algae (fighting that problem myself!). I love my yellow gorgonian...

    Bubble algae?

Okay, since this stuff is bubble algae, why hasn't my emerald, or hermit crabs even looked at it? Has it just gotten too big? And will it just pop on it's own, or does something have to pop it? Just curious!

    Bubble algae?

Okay, maybe someone can help me. I have what sounds like bubble algae, but it isn't attached to anything. It is one bubble, about the size of a marble. I took it out of my tank once when I was cleaning, (and yes, it needs to be cleaned today!) and it was hard like a marble, so I put it back...

    2 yellow tang

Goldfish don't die when they don't have a big enough tank! They don't need the room like a tang does!

    Missing hermit crab?

Was it the only hermit in the tank? They are known to yank each other out of their shells, just for the h@#% of it. I personally have never had one leave without another shell close by, but that is not to say it never happens. Just make sure there are several shells, they can be picky, and...

    2 yellow tang

I have to disagree with Schadiest1, it is a fallacy that the fish will only grow to the size of the tank. (And who wants a sick fish?) I currently have a 5 inch goldfish in a 2.5 gallon tank (he is to be moved soon). My point is, as long as it is healthy, it will grow! I know I complain all...

    Instant Invert Death

Don't buy any more inverts!!!! Take a little bit of your tank water to your LFS and have it tested. Maybe your test kit is old or off or something! Maybe they can find something that your test kit is missing! But please, stop the massacre!!! (just razzing ya!)

    Aiptasia anemones

I had what everyone, including me, thought was an aiptasia, so I bought a pepermint shrimp. He never touched the darn thing! I later learned I had a baby Curly-Q. I still have both critters, and they never even look sideways at each other!

    I'm a noob...be kind.

Post your question on the Nano thread, and you will find a lot more people with greater knowledge on the subject. But, my personal suggestion would to start with a 55 gallon. The larger tank would actually be a lot less work than the smaller tanks.

    How many is too many?

I'm not preaching on the tangs, but don't expect them to make it for very long (a couple of months, max!). It isn't completely their size that determines the need for a bigger tank, but their need for more swimming room! Please consider giving them back and getting fish that are more...

    Yellow Tangs

I would stick to about 4 - 5 fish total in a tank that size, and please, don't go out and buy them all at once! Do not put a tang of any kind in a tank less than 100 gallons, some have to have an even bigger tank! Research on the corals to see what will get along. Mushrooms will not fight...

    Acclimating Inverts

Since you have so many, you might want to split them up in a couple of different buckets. This also depends on how big the buckets are. They are going to have to get along in your tank, but you don't want to add any extra stress by not giving them any stretching room to acclimate! Also, you...
