    Yellow Tang Attacking!!

When my cleaner shrimp molts, he still has all his antenna. First time I saw the molt I was trippin cause I didn't know that is what I was looking at, I could clearly see the red striped shell and 4 looooong white antenna on one side of the tank, behind a rock, then I also saw my cleaner out...

Changing filter pad= Losing some bio ability?

I have a 55g and maybe 30 lbs of live rock in my tank. I also use a millenium 2000 with area for filter pads that I like for their ability to help keep the tank clean. I recently got a skimmer, but am still tweaking it. Question of the day is.... #1 If rinse them each week with my water...

WHat would you do if someone Maliciously Ruined Your Tank?

So where is this at in the courts so far? You say she is court ordered to pay for it...did they give her a time limit? Our adopted daughter (who has some serious mental health issues from birth), got a restraining order to make a guy she was staying with leave his own apartment (his name only...

something weird on my live rock

I recently had something very similar. I was told if you put a bit of food on its crown and it closes around it, it is more than likely aptasia. Also heard that feather dusters will suck the crown in and leave the tube, but my little thingy sucked the whole tube thing into the rock... I was...

Does anyone else have the falling rock problem?

Yea, I have that same problem, and I don't even have that much rock in my tank.....I finally got it so the mag float doesn't bump anything, so that helps. I hate it when I get it just right, cave and swim thrus... and just can't reproduce it again. On the other hand sometimes I do it better...

OMG I just went into the garge for something and thought...hmmmm, it is a few degrees chillier in here, and so I put a thermometer in there and it was RIGHT ON 68!!! Can't believe it, must be my lucky day! So I calibrated it with my distilled water, and checked it against my TWO diff...

    aaaaaaaaarg New Refractomer

I just got my new refractometer w/ automatic temp control. It says it MUST be calibrated in a room with a temp of 68 degrees. Well hmmmmm, am I sposed to just watch the thermometer all morning and eve trying to catch it when the room is just exactly 68? It seems to rush past that point quite...

    Sand or Crushed Coral?

I very much like the looks of CC, and when I earlier had the same question, I asked many people on several forums. The new way of running tanks is sand, and so folks will always tell you sand. But, CC is still alive and well out there and working fine for many people. And critters grow in it...

    Feather duster or Aiptasia???

Little update. Got busy last night and left the rock in the tank water on the counter. This morning the little bugger had left the safety of the rock crevice, and was hanging on the side of the bowl & seems to be dead now. Maybe from all the tentacle tickling I did, but I thought they where...

    Feather duster or Aiptasia???

OK then Aptasia it must be, because tube is way stretched out now, longer easier to see, looks just like feather duster...BUT,... entire thing disappears into the crevise if I touch it, so Joe's juice it is... Thanks everyone!

    Feather duster or Aiptasia???

Since it has tucked itself into the rock crevise, it completely disappears when it is disturbed. So I can't see the tube at all anymore. I put some frozen mysys in the bowl with it and it didn't grab at it just ignored it. How long is it safe to wait before it spreads, (if it is aptasia)?

    Feather duster or Aiptasia???

Well the rock is in a bowl right now with tank water, still can't get a pic. The tentacles did seem to wave in the current in the tank, but in the bowl they are rather still. I am not sure what you mean by more defined in one section...

    Feather duster or Aiptasia???

I did a big google image search and they sometimes the two look very much alike, the feather dusters and Aiptasia. I was so excited to see this little thing, UNTIL it occured to me it might not be a teensy weensy baby feather duster. It has a teensy white tube, and tentacles coming out the top...
