    Why is my montipora bleaching?

I've had Monti's do this as well. I just think it's necrossis. Sometimes this happens for no apparent reason. My suggestion to you is to break off all the pieces that have not died out and throw the rest away. It will keep going until the whole thing is gone. Carl

RO/DI just arrived at my door step!

I have the same unit as this. (Typhoon III Extreme) I have had it for about 4 years now and it was easy to hook up, and if I remember right there were tags on each of the hoses telling where each went. If your still having problems let me know and I will take a picture of mine and label the...

    Xenia not doing good???

You say you moved? How far, and for how long was the Xenia in bags or ?. Did you tear down the tank? Did you stir the sand in moving? The reason I'm asking is if you disturbed the sand bed (if you have one) you could cause a spike in just about everything, mostly phosphates. If you took the...

    Trouble with percula clown

Thanks for your inputs, It isn't like a white fuzzy ball or anything, it's 100% clear like a layer of it's skin peeled up or just like a blister. very small, top lip. It seems to be going away (although still noticable) I would take a pic but my camera is on the blink and I don't know if...

Not what it used to be

You may want to look into a phosphate reactor. Not expensive to set up or run. Around $40+.

    Calcium Dosing/Coraline Algae..

If your phosphates are still high you may want to invest in a phosphate reactor. They typically run in the $40 range. I use one all the time and use the GFO granules. I use these because the other phosphate media has aluminum in it which gives my corals a fit. For the money, the phosphate...

    Attack of the brown algae

Sounds like a diatom bloom to me also..very common in new tanks. When the tank finally completely cycles it will go away.

looking for some thought from everyone else

I don't know what your going to keep in it but some of the problems I see is you have no (visible) means of air circulation. With the top being completely closed those 4 250 watt MH's is going to generate one heck of a heat problem. I personally think 1000 watts of MH's on that tank is going...

    Which protein skimmer????

I use the ORCA 200 on my 240 reef tank. It narrowed down to the Octo or the ORCA. I chose the ORCA due to its reputation.

pulling down tank to battle green hair algae!

I too had a hair algae problem although it doesn't sound like it was quite as bad as yours. Doing a complete tear down may not be needed. I got rid of mine by doing some maintenance. I did take the rocks, etc, and get as much of the algae off I could. Everyone is right, the problem is the...

    Fragging leather

I would leave it alone for a while. I have one I've had for a couple of years and this thing keeps dropping "babies" left and right. It looks like it's dying and a piece the size of a silver dollar just comes off the mother toadstool. Mine has done this so many times I have probably 20+...
