If I were you I would empty the tank off all rockwork and inverts, as this would be a perfect QT tank before you move that tang into your larger(much larger) display tank. You are gettin a larger tank right?

They don't need to eat fish, but if one small enough presents itself, they might not pass it up. And it really will outgrow your tank.

And also it is hard to identify when they are dying. Sometimes it will be to late and it will have already done damage. My suggestion is to inspect it regularly. If you look in the shell and there is no scallop there, its dead. And I believe that the tentacles will start to shrivel and...
